Biography
Born in Seville in 2004, Alejandro de Castro García has established himself as one of the most promising pianists of his generation, winning numerous international awards around the world.
He began his studies at C.E.M. “América Martínez” in Mairena del Aljarafe, Seville, in 2012. There, he studied under the guidance of Marisa Rubio, and after completing the elementary level in 2015, he took and passed the entrance exams for the professional program at C.P.M. Cristóbal de Morales in Seville. There, he studied with Adela Barranco and Julio Moguer until finishing the professional program in 2021. In June 2025, he completed the Degree in Musical Performance at Alfonso X El Sabio University under the teachers Leo de María and Leonel Morales Alonso, with whom he continues to refine his skills today.
He has won first prizes at the 1st International Piano Competition “Ciudad de Armilla” (2025), the 14th María Herrero Competition (2024), the 25th National Piano Competition “Ciutat de Carlet” (2024), and the 14th National Piano Competition “Gabriel Teruel Machí” (2024). He was awarded second prize at the 4th National Piano Competition “Ciudad de Don Benito” (2025) and at the 7th EPTA Spain Piano Competition (2023). He has received third prize at the 25th International Piano Competition Compositores de España (WFIMC 2025), the 1st International Piano Competition “Dinu Lipatti” (2025), and the 11th César Franck International Piano Competition (2023).
Other distinctions include his recent International Prize at the Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Salzburg, Austria (2025), and the Audience Prize at the 1st International Piano Competition “Dinu Lipatti” (2024).
He has received guidance from artists such as Maxim Mogilevsky, Andreas Fröhlich, Álvaro Teixeira, Philippe Raskin, Natalia Trull, Michel Bourdoncle, Marta Policinska, Paula Coronas, and Leonel Morales, among others. He has also participated in numerous festivals, including María Herrero in Granada (2021–2025), the Internationale Sommerakademie Universität Mozarteum Salzburg (2022, 2024, and 2025), and the Summer EuroArts Festival in Szczecin, Poland (2023), among others.
He made his debut in September 2025 in Miami, Florida, USA, with the Florida Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Marlene Urbay, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15. He has collaborated with other distinguished conductors such as Gabriel Delgado, Miguel Romea, Ovidiu Balan, and Lawrence Golan, and has performed in important venues including the Casino Militar on Gran Vía in Madrid, Teatro Juan Bravo in Segovia, Centro Cultural Sanchinarro, Auditorio Municipal de Albacete, Casa de la Cultura Don Benito, Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo in Las Rozas, the Sanremo Casino in Italy, and the Solitär Hall at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, among others.
