Alejandro de Castro

Born in Sevilla, Spain in 2004, Alejandro de Castro is considered one of the most promising pianists of his generation, winning prizes in multiple competitions in Italy, Belgium, Romania, Spain and Austria.

Biography

He began his studies at C.E.M. “América Martínez” in Mairena del Aljarafe, Seville, in 2012. There, he studied under the guidance of Marisa Rubio, and after completing the elementary level in 2015, he took and passed the entrance exams for the professional program at C.P.M. Cristóbal de Morales in Seville. He studied with Adela Barranco and Julio Moguer in this conservatory until finishing the professional program in 2021. In June 2025, he completed the Degree in Musical Performance at Alfonso X El Sabio University under the teachers Leo de María and Leonel Morales Alonso, with whom he continues to refine his skills today.

Granada, España - 11th December 2025

Last Thursday, December 11, Alejandro de Castro performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, Op. 73, also known as the “Emperor,” with Maestro Gabriel Delgado and the University of Granada (UGR) Orchestra.

The concert took place at the Paraninfo PTS Hall in Granada at 8:00 p.m. The Jaén-born baritone Francisco Bermudo and the University Choir also took part in the concert.

Third Prize in the XXV Spanish Composers International Piano Competition (CIPCE) (WFIMC)

Las Rozas de Madrid, España - 17th November 2025

The prestigious “Compositores de España” International Piano Competition is held every year in Las Rozas, Madrid, and attracts young pianists from all over the world. Since 2022, it has been a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and, together with the Jaén International Piano Competition, the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona, and the Iturbi Competition in Valencia, is one of the four competitions in Spain belonging to this Federation.

Alejandro de Castro was awarded third prize, which included a €2,000 scholarship granted by the Fundación Ciudad de Requena. He performed the following repertoire during the competition:

Rachmaninov: Preludes opus 23 no. 10 and 2

Stravinsky: Three movements from Petrushka

“Beethoven Stravaganza” in Miami, Florida with the Florida Chamber Orchestra (FCO) and maestro Marlene Urbay

Miami, Florida, EEUU - 6 and 7 September 2025

Last September, “Beethoven Stravaganza” was held in Miami, a collaboration among artists from around the world in which the complete Beethoven piano concertos were performed. Five pianists of different nationalities took part, and the Florida Chamber Orchestra was conducted by Maestro Marlene Urbay.

Alejandro de Castro performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15. The Spanish pianist María Soldado Bermúdez performed Concerto No. 2, the Romanian pianist Cristiana Dragos performed No. 3, the American pianist Nicolás Marín performed No. 4, and the Spanish pianist Leo de María closed the cycle with the Fifth Concerto.
